| Joe's Jam (AKA Coral Bowl) |
|
Others may call this incredible site the Coral Bowl, but we know better!!! Named for a diveboat captain named Joe (don’t ask why, we’ll never tell !), the dive site starts out in 30 feet of sand and small corals. A short swim takes you to an incredible sight, a natural bowl the size of football arena cut into the sea floor. Imagine rows upon rows of overlapping coral ridges and overhangs descending on three sides to a sandy bottom at 90 feet. Don’t forget to look under (but don’t touch) the ridges, as lobsters, turtles and nurse sharks live throughout the levels. And if you think this spot is amazing during the day, at night Joe's Jam comes alive with giant green sea turtles settling under the coral ledges, lobsters walk around and parrot fish start developing their protective bubbles so they can enjoy a good nights sleep.
